I've talked to many people about their high school reunions and the responses have mostly been the same, across the board. They say it was nice, it was fun, it was ok, blah blah blah. Well my 20 year reuinion was off the chain. More than ok, nice, or fun. The men of 86, were looking some kind of good. Whew! Them cats have aged nicely.
There was one in particular that caught my eye. I remember him from school, but never talked to him. He was always shy, quiet, skinny, and had his butt on his back. Whew them hind parts was high. *chuckle* Well we started talking about two and a half to three months, prior to the reunion. He hit me up on classmates one day and I responded. Dont remember what kind of person he was back then, but he is a keeper now. Not just because he is fine as frogs hair. He is good peeps. We've shared a lot. We rode together to the functions of the reunion and we hung out, away from the reunion. I really enjoyed his company and conversations. I hear of folks connecting, at reunions just because its that. I can honestly say that I think we will continue to be friends for a long time to come. I hope its an eternity. Enough mushy stuff about that....on to the reunion...
Well we had a three day event. Friday was our school walk thru. So much has changed. OMG! So many add ons. Some of the folks I remember from school, actually teach there now. Funny! Coaches and what not. After the walk thru, we all took pictures outside, around our school sign. The school has a new sign now. Our old sign was covered with weeds. Some of my classmates pulled the weeds out of the ground, to expose the sign. Was a spiritual moment. Hey, it was! After pictures, we went through year books and laughed and mingled a bit. Then it was off to this bar, to hang out and talk.
Saturday was the banquet. It started at six and lasted, until three in the morning. Whew! Im too old, for the partying that I did that night. Was so good, to see everyone. Food was OFF THE CHAIN!!! Folks kept putting $100 on the bar. Im not used to drinking, so I had a nice buzz. We danced and danced. Folks kept rolling in and rolling in, all night. A lot of my classmates, I hadnt seen since graduation. I know right! *raised eyebrows* Twenty friggin years!
Then Sunday was our farewell pic nic. I hate those words. Thats a his-story lesson and story for another blog. *rollin eyes* Most of the classmates had their spouses, sigs, and children with them. I left mine at my moms. Why?! Cuz I see they asses every day. *suckin teefs* Any who! I took tons of pictures of every one socializing and eating and of their families. Was soooooooooooo nice. Again, food was tight. We took a class picture in the bleachers, out at the park. From there many of us headed to a class mates house, for more partying. I dont even remember what time I left there. I know it was late though.
I got sick and lost my voice. I woke up the next morning, tore up from the floor up. Had to call in sick to work and take an extra day, to get myself feeling back to normal. Sore throat, no voice, and an ear infection. Sheeeeeeesh! Thought I had a busted ear drum. Couldnt hear.
Any who! It was all more than worth it. I have to say that our reunion committee out did themselves. I will never forget it. Thanks Jeri, Nancy, and whoever else helped pull it together. And Im looking forward to doing this again in five years. Oh yeah, to you suckas that missed it just because you didnt feel the need to come............YOU MISSED OUT BIG TIME!
